After 50 years, gaining weight can be easy due to menopause, joint pain, hypertension, and imbalances in blood sugar levels. Mainly,  many women find themselves seeking rest due to health issues, but there’s another reason that often goes unnoticed: the empty nest syndrome. After years of nurturing and raising their children, the quiet house can feel a bit overwhelming, prompting a desire for self-care and relaxation.

The medicines we consume make us lethargic, and we intend to rest, such as taking a nap in the afternoon, getting up late in the morning, make it easy for us to gain weight easily.

Here comes the best tips for weight loss:

  1. Morning: Sipping on aromatic hot water, adding lemon peel and cloves is not just a delightful experience; it’s a fantastic aid for digestion! This fragrant blend warms the soul while soothing your digestive system. Give it a try and feel the difference!
  2. Take a protein diet before having carbohydrates. [ Sundal- protein-rich sprouts with veggies,  or vegetable dal.]
  3. Mild exercise, such as simple yoga, is essential to staying adaptable, flexible, and open to change!
  4. Lunch with rice in a minimum quantity. Do not have rice and roti together, as they add to weight gain. Either stick to rice or rotis.
  5. Avoid bread, biscuits, sugary drinks, processed foods, and bakery items. When I first began trimming these items, it was an interesting choice that opened up new possibilities!
  6. Add cinnamon and cloves to your tea to help with weight loss.
  7. Walking is a good exercise. As much as possible, try to walk for 45 minutes daily.
  8. Keep your dinner light. For two or three days a week, consider a liquid diet consisting of soups, salads, and vegetable juices.
  9. Make it a priority to avoid restaurants, particularly at night.
  10. Replace sugar with jaggery [ small quantity], potatoes can be replaced with cabbage, chow chow, and knool khol.
  11. No fried items. Replace with steamed food items.
  12. Instead of avoiding any food items, it is better to take in reduced quantities, which plays a vital role in reducing weight.
  13. Karunjeeragam [ Tamil word] in English is primarily known as Nigella seeds or Black cumin seeds (botanical name: Nigella sativa). It is commonly used as a flavorful spice and for its medicinal properties. It aids weight loss but generates heat. Prepare a tea with cloves, ginger, and cinnamon for weight reduction
  14. Banana stem or plantain stem in English. It is the edible, fibrous inner core of the banana plant’s flowering stalk, commonly used in South Indian cuisine for salads, stir-fries (poriyal), juices, and curries. Take banana stem juice or raita[banana stem added to curd] frequently. [This helped me a lot in reducing the weight].
  15. I made a simple yet impactful change to my diet by switching from white rice to brown rice, and it’s been a game-changer for me! Not only does it taste great, but I’ve really noticed the benefits.
