Introduction to apana mudra

Apana mudra is beneficial to diabetic patients since it balances the space and earth elements within the body. It flushes out the toxins from our body, So, it is also called purification mudra. This mudra can be practiced at any time. If you are pregnant then consult your gynaecologist  as it eases delivery. The only caution is pregnant ladies can do it after 8 months for comfortable delivery. [Note: consult your health care professional or Gynaecologists before doing this mudra]. No age bar to restrict this mudra. If you are suffering from loose motion or vomiting please avoid this mudra. once recovered you can do this mudra.

Good for digestion

Apana mudra relieves the stomach pain as it aids in digestion. Gastric problems are cured. But this mudra should be practised regularly or atleast for 21 days for the best results. Even diabetic patients can do this mudra as it eases digestion. The name Apana itself reveals that it is good for stomach as the Apana vayu is present in our belly. So when you have overeaten in marriage or parties you can perform this mudra.

How to do:
Sit in Padmasana or Vajrayana. Close your eyes. If you are unable to sit down, sit in the chair or couch or in a comfortable position. Take a breath and exhale. observe your breath. Bend slightly your middle and ring finger with the tip of the thumb finger. Keep the index finger and pinky finger straight. It should be done with both hands.

Duration:
It can be practiced for 45 minutes daily or split into 15 minutes -3 times a day. Also, you can do this mudra while walking also. Even before sleeping this mudra can be done.

Gyan Mudra


Gyan mudra is powerful and the best mudra to increase concentration and focus. This Gyan mudra is practiced mainly while doing meditation. The yogis do this mudra to get concentration and focus on the Almighty and focus on their goal. It is an easy and simple mudra.

Gyan mudra can be practiced by children, and young adults [ who want to succeed in their career]. First will tell the benefits which will motivate us to do it. Then how to perform it. The best practicing time is early morning.

Benefits :

1)This mudra helps in concentration, awareness and foucs.

2. Removes the stress.

3. Protects from Alzheimer disease.

4. Improves the sleep [ get into deep sleep.] As the age increases sleep will be disturbed. Many old age people sleep with the help of sleeping medicines.

5. If done by young people, children above 5 years their alertness increases.

Duration: To do for 45 minutes will give the best result. Either you can split for 15 minutes in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Any habit to cultivate it should be done for 21 days. So have to do religiously for 21 days to get the result. This mudra can be performed anywhere and anytime.

How to do:

Bend the index finger and touch the tip of the thumb finger. Press slightly. The other 3 fingers should be kept straight. It is best to sit in padmasana or vajra asana. Observe your breath. Then gradually you have to breathe in and breathe out. [ Pranayama].

Note: Do not watch television and do this mudra. Sit in a calm and serene place for the best results.

cons: Any mudra after the desired result should not be practised. After 3 or 4 months sometimes the vayu element may get increased. So it is better to stop for sometime and resume the mudra after 2 or 3 months.
