It is mandatory to follow the 3 C’s in your life. Then your life will be stress-free.

Concentration

Its concentration. Always, your faculty or guide would be instructing “concentrate”.It is not only when we are in the classroom but also everywhere. Whatever work we do, we must concentrate on that work alone. Never wander your thoughts or vision somewhere. Then the fault is on us. Any work with full concentration brings satisfaction and success. It will only bring us pleasure if we concentrate and dedicate ourselves to it. This is something you could have experienced in your life. One friend of mine, who has the duty to take care of her old and ailing mother-in-law, was always in a state of stress. I advised her to concentrate on her work, which helped her come out of the stress.

Meditation works wonders in your life. Though it is incredible, it is true and proven scientifically. We all think that practicing meditation helps to improve either spiritual well-being or mental well-being. But it covers all the aspects of spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Spiritual Well-Being:

When you start doing meditation, do not think that you will get enlightenment within a single day or after 10 days. You can observe the changes gradually. Ignore the thoughts that come to you, whether they are positive or negative thoughts, past incidents, or sad or happy moments.

Keep your eyes closed and a smile on your face. Spine to be straight

Physical well-being:

Physical well-being is very important to accomplish our daily activities. We have to age gracefully. Every individual wishes to live healthily. But the present fast-changing lives, technology, and the present pandemic situation make us sick and unhealthy. Food habits, timing, and quality of food are a big challenge to keeping us healthy. The vegetables, fruits, grains, and everything else are adulterated and fertilized with heavy toxic chemicals, which leads to chronic diseases. Meditation helps to heal our body from the toxins we take from food and the air we breathe.

Mental Well-being:

We must be able to be diplomatic and composed in front of others. If we express our tension and stress to others, then we will be the talk of the town. Meditation helps to balance our emotional well-being, though there will be lots of frustration and disappointment within us. In many corporate offices, multinational companies train their employees in soft skill fields. Many soft skill educators provide training to school students as well..

How to practice meditation

Initially, start with 10 minutes, then increase it gradually. Do it religiously. The best time is early in the morning, and you can continue in the mid-afternoon instead of taking small naps and in the evening if time permits. Before going to bed to relax your mind and get away from the stress, it is mandatory at night as well.

A. Close your eyes.

B. Keep a smile on your face.

C. Sit straight with your spine erect.

D. Keep your palms in the dhyana mudra facing the ceiling.

E. Set a timer or play music.

F. Fixed timings: morning 6 means daily 6 a.m

G. Sit in padmasana or vajrasana or sit in a chair with folded legs.

H. If you suffer from knee pain, then keep the legs down.

Walking tips

Living healthy in this Pandemic situation is quite challenging. Yes, mask and social distancing play a major role.
Walking, Gym or outdoor activities like playing tennis, shuttle  which keep us fit is taboo now. Yoga, exercises should be mandatory now. If your body is not flexible, not able to do yoga or exercises, or above 60, or has undergone major surgery need not worry. These are the best tips and tricks to be followed. You may find helpful with these tips and ideas. 

1) Take frequent walks for 10 minutes in the hall or bedroom. If corridor or balcony is available then well and good. Even while talking over the phone please do not sit. you can walk while talking. 

2) Set a reminder in your phone and walk which will make it regular.

3) Walk for 15 minutes take rest and walk again for 15 minutes. Do this in the morning and evening.

4)You can do “8” walking in the home. It messages all the organs in the stomach which enhance digestion.

5) But if you have undergone surgey then consult your healthcare professional. 

6) “8” Walking may not help who have IBS. So be caareful if “8” walking is working out well then carry on. If not do orninary walking itself.

Healthy foods
1) Don’t take heavy foods which are not digestible easily. Take minimum quantity and do not overeat.
2) As far as possible avoid sweets, fried items.
3Take a lot of water. Be hydrated.
4) Take vegetable soups, vegetable salads dressed in a lot of coriander leaves, lemon juice, or chopped mint.
5) Sprouts, steamed food are good for health.
6) Avoid juices since it has sugar which is not advisable for diabetics.
7) Have your dinner early before 7.30 p.m. and not late at night. It’s very difficult to get digested.
8)Add a lot of ginger, mint, curry leaves, jeera, fennel, ajwain which helps digestion.
9) Do not prepare all the immunity powder prepared and shown on social media. Cinnamon, cloves, ginger, pepper will make the body produce a lot of heat. Since India is a tropical country and now summer in all parts of India. It’s better to have it 2 or 3 days a week.

Avoid media
13) Go to bed early. Do not watch unnecessary news, post in the media. Even watching television is not a positive way to lead a life.
14) Long usage of television watching, computer screens make your eyes weak and tired.

15) The media news makes our mind weak and give negative thoughts, bad thoughts etc., which are not good for strong mind.

16) Avoid violence scenes and third rated movies in  the television.

Pranayama Benefits


Pranayama benefits are numerous and tremendous. When appropriately practiced it has a number of health benefits. But you have to practice it religiously. Like you brush your teeth it should be followed. There must be no break.
Hindu philosophy is mainly based on karma. So we pray to nature, sun as a god, performing cow’s pooja and Go Dhana [donating cows to eligible person], Thulasi (basil) plant and Aswath (banyan trees) are holy and auspicious. By praying sincerely we can get rid of sins. Also by doing pranayama we can get rid of our sins. Interesting is it? Yes!!! It purifies our Nadis. In a human being, there are 76,000 nadis. The right side has 36,000 nadis and the Left side has 36,000 nadis. While we do pranayama, our nadis get purified, and the past misdeeds are removed by the grace of Eashwar.

Also, it was said that Kowsalya Lord Rama’s Mother performed pranayama. Even in the epics, we have proof of doing pranayama. To inhale the air, first, take a deep breath as you smell a flower. Hold the breath for 5 counts and then exhale.
This you can do for every 30 seconds which helps to avoid stress.
Benefits of Pranayama:
There are a lot of benefits that we were not aware of the Pranayama.
1. It removes the stress which makes us feel good.
2. It removes the anxiety.
3. Deep breathing helps to cure insomnia
4. It develops concentration and helps us to focus on our work.
5. It calms our parasympathetic nerves.
6. It helps to reduce hypertension when practiced daily.
7. By doing it daily we can lead a disciplined life which helps us to live healthily.
8. overeating makes us obese and leads to various diseases. Due to pranayama, we can focus on
eating which is a good practice.
9. Blood sugar or diabetes is reduced considerably.
10. Pranayama helps us to lead a spiritual life.
How to do Pranayama:
Initially, pranayama should be learned from a proper teacher or guru. Though there are various social media posts that will teach you to do pranayama, the right way is to learn from an experienced person.
They are many types of Pranayama
1. Alternate Nostril breathing
2. Kapalbhati
3. Bhramari
4. Right nostril breathing
5. Left nostril breathing.
6. Box breathing.

Alternate nostril breathing -Pranayama should be practised in the early hours of morning [ 4.30 a.m. to 6.00 a.m] . It helps to purify your mind and cures anxiety, stress, depression, and hypertension.

Kapalbhati helps to reduce weight and blood sugar. In Kapalbhati inhale with the both nostrils and exhale through the both nostrils. There is no holding of breathe. Exhalation should be fast. It is better to learn from a skilled person.

Bhramari Pranayama helps to control your mind and thoughts. This pranayama can be done by pregnant ladies. But seek advice from the doctor before doing it. It controls agitated mind. It has lot of benefits. Even Alzheimer is prevented by doing this pranayama.

Box breathing helps to cure insomnia. It is also called square breathing. Inhale with the count of four, hold for four counts and exhale for four counts and hold the breath for four counts. you can practice box breathing before sleep or evening. Even if you are awake during midnight or in the mid of the sleep, box breathing helps. It controls unnecesary thoughts and aids to make you sleep.

Mudras – Stay healthy


Mudras help us to stay healthy and activate the energies. They are simple hand gestures with no side effects. By doing mudras you can cure body pains, knee pain, improve digestion, balance thyroid problems, cure throat pain, control body weight, and maintain a healthy life. I have mentioned the best and easy mudras.
Thumb finger represents –  fire

The index finger represents – Air

Middle Finger  represents-Space

Ring Finger represents- Earth

Pinky finger represents – water.

You can practice mudras either in the early morning or during the evening. There are no rules and mainly no side effects. Practicing mudra daily for 40 minutes or split into 3 sessions 15 minutes duration. While doing mudra the main aspect is observing the breath. If you focus your mind on breathing, the mind concentrates on what you are doing. Also, you can do the mudras by walking or waiting in the traffic. My best advice is to: please don’t do while watching Television.

Do it yourself – Best tips for cold and cough. In this COVID 19 situation, take preventive measures for cold and cough.

  1. Steaming is the best tips for cough and cold. Daily before going to bed and whenever we happen to go out we can do steaming.
  2. If you feel like slight irrtation in the throat it is best to do steaming.
  3. Prepare home made tea like adding mint, turmeric, cloves, cardamom in a boiled water. Then filter it and drink it hot.
  4. Take a towl and fold it in four folds. Then show near the gas stove. Keep the towel in certain distance. Then keep the pre-heated towel in the neck, face.
  5. Prepare Amla juice. Boil the amla. Remove the seeds and make juice. Add honey and drink it.
  6. In south india, “Rasam” a cuisine is prepared which beats the cough and cold. Take a small lemon size ball of Tamarind. Boil the tamarind in water. After 15 minutes take the tamarind syrup and throw away the waste. Only the essence is used.
  7. Add turmeric, asfoetidia, salt and let it boil well.
  8. Dry roast coriander seeds, cumin seeds, pepper seeds, fenugreek seeds(small amount), red chillies and grind it coarsely.
  9. Add the grinded powder to the tamarind water.
  10. Add tomato pulp and small piece of jaggery to enhance the taste. Add salt as per the requirement.
  11. For tempering, take one teaspoon of ghee, after heating the ghee add mustard seeds, and cumin seeds also 5 or 10 curry leaves.
  12. You can drink it or add with hot rice with ghee. Coriander seeds and pepper in this cuisine relieves the cough.
